Limerick shoppers turned out in force on Saturday for a super family fun day to mark the opening of the new Toys ‘R’ Us store at Parkway Retail Park on the Dublin Road.
A huge crowd of local families were treated to an action-packed day-long feast of activities on the packed plaza at Parkway Retail Park.
Among the highlights were a giant walking interactive robot, the superb Animal Roadshow petting zoo, balloon artists, face painters and celebrity DJ Ray Shah.
Surrounded by large crowds, Deputy Mayor Gerald Mitchell cut the ribbon to open the second Toys ‘R’ Us store in Ireland, which has created 35 jobs.
“We were delighted to welcome so many local families to our grand opening and to have such a bustling trade in the store – and in the retail park – on our first day is amazing,” said store manager Jawad Akhtar.
“We’ve been looking for the right store in Limerick for some time so we are delighted to now be here with a great team of new staff ready to enjoy the busy atmosphere of Parkway Retail Park – especially in the run-up to Christmas.”
There were queues outside the store before opening time and business was extremely busy all day as families soaked up the party atmosphere.
Parkway Retail Park’s next family fun event will be an incredible Halloween Spooks Parade, which will take place on Thursday October 29 at 6.30pm.
Parents are being asked to bring their children to this fun event where they will take part in a supervised child-friendly parade around the retail park in their Halloween costumes with superb entertainment and giveaways.
More details of the event will be announced in local press and on the Parkway Retail Park website and Facebook page and coming up to the event.
